Exhibition at Jadranka Pastries (Ljubica Marusic)


Artist Biography:

Ljubica Marušić was born and lived in Former Yugoslavia. She came to Canada from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2001, to join and live with her children.

Ljubica has Early Child Education Diploma, University Degree in Pedagogy and Psychology and 30 years experience working with children and adults. During her work she drew a lot using: charcoal, pastel and water colours. She was involved as an illustrator for a children’s magazine for several years.
When retired and during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina she did not drew a lot.



When she came to Canada 7 years ago, she intensively has started her artistic work: making pictures and cards for different occasions: Christmas, Valentine, Easter, birthday cards. Ljubica works primarily by using collage technique. Materials that she uses are: papers from magazine, coloured paper, crayons, veneer. Her diverse background is reflected in different thematic and composition. Themes for her work come from many sources. Her flowers convey subtleties of light and texture and the power of form.

Her newest work with collage and water color presents the landscapes of Europe, B&H with mountains, forest and specific architecture of houses. Memory and intuition play important roles in her themes and colour.


Her work has been sold in 8 art galleries in London and Port Stanley and has gathered considerable public attention. Every picture and card that she creates is unique and unrepeated.
