Toronto SUN

Speaking of food, Jadranka Pastries in Etobicoke, specializes in
gorgeous, Viennese-style pastries and cakes at incredible prices, recently celebrated its fifth anniversary with a big, sweet pastry party and an expansion of their business. Brother-and-sister team of Vanja Ljuboje and Ljilja Jamakosmanovic -- whose grandparents were well-known pastry chefs back in their native Sarajevo -- celebrated the big event by expanding their little shop into an impressive, airy storefront operation with elegant artwork adorning one side of the store, and a sparkling dessert glass case brimming with mouth-watering treats on the other. In the five years the bakery has expanded, it's also grown to serve more than twenty specialty shops, supermarkets and restaurants throughout southwestern Ontario.

The shop has even fulfilled special delivery requests of their Bohems and Shamponez to the farthest stretches of North America and even Europe. Ingredients in the pastry, cakes and cookies are all natural, made with real butter, cream and various fillings including walnut, hazelnut and more. The wedding cakes are absolutely gorgeous. Look for Bohem pastries, made with toasted hazelnut crust and a cream filling drizzled with chocolate glaze, or a beautiful Shamponez dessert featuring a decadent blend of walnut pastry layered with walnut and chocolate cream filling. There's so much more, of course, including tea cookies and the sweetest petite fours around.
